Fossils and Archeology Mod Revival Wiki

Dilophosaurus (meaning "two-crested lizard") are neutral mobs. The AI of this dinosaur is largely based on the Velociraptor's AI. This species is carnivorous, feeding on any kind of meat. It was once based off Jurassic Park's fictional dinosaur species Dilophosaurus "venenifer" but, as of build 7.0, its poison-spitting ability and neck frill have been removed in order to make it look more realistic and closer to Dilophosaurus wetherilli. Like all other mobs in the mod, they do not spawn naturally.

An adult Dilophosaurus

The Dilophosaurus is a medium-sized dinosaur at adulthood with a pair of orange and yellow rounded crests on its head and an artichoke green body with a darker head and spots.

Taming Ordering and feeding

Dilophosaurus are tamable dinosaurs and can be tamed in the same way as all other tameable prehistoric reptiles. If the egg comes from a mating between two tamed Dilophosaurus, the hatchling will be already tamed. If not, the player needs to stay in a range about 6 blocks of the egg, and the hatchling will be tamed. Dilophosaurs can be controlled by a bone.

Dilophosaurus use feeders and see them within 6 blocks. They will come for it when they find no animals around. There is another way to feed them: Dilophosaurus hold everything dropped, and eat dropped meat and fish. Right-clicking a Dilophosaurus with any kind of meat or fish works too. You can order them using bones, like with all small carnivores.

Breeding

Dilophosaurus breed every 5 minutes. The breeding probability is handled by how many individuals nearby. As mentioned above, the offspring of tamed Dilophosaurus is always tamed.

Behaviour

Like Velociraptors, Compsognathus and Deinonychus, Dilophosaurus are pack hunters since their childhood, so members of the pack will hunt together and will always be close. The pack has a simple hierarchy: the oldest is the leader. If a member of the pack is injured by the player or if the pack is starving, the whole group will become aggressive against the player. They used to have poisonous bites that give the Blindness effect for 4 seconds but they have been removed as of build 7.0. However they are still very dangerous as they do 3 and a half hearts to an unarmored player. They can also climb ladders.
